What is Occupational Therapy?

Injury, illness or disability can impact on your independence and participation in valuable life roles and activities.
These activities are referred to as ‘occupations’, and can be grouped into three broad categories;

Leisure

Leisure activities are what you do for relaxation, play or enjoyment, e.g. reading, playing a musical instrument or sport.

Self Care

Self care activities help you remain independent and active in everyday life, e.g. showering or cooking.

Productivity

Productive activities are what you do to derive meaning through your contribution e.g. schooling, work, parenting or volunteering.

Occupational Therapy can help you return to these important and meaningful occupations.
